NSA scours web for images to use in facial recognition program, June 2, 2014

The National Security Agency is collecting millions of images via social media and private communications to use in a facial recognition system, according to new leaked documents from whistleblower Edward Snowden. Saturday, journalists James Risen and Laura Poitras published an article in The New York Times detailing an increasingly complex facial recognition system used by the spy agency. Also included in the documents are mentions of plans to use iris scans to compliment the program.
