She notes that mother is associated with matter and earth godesses. Masculinity is associated mythologically with spirit and with sky gods. In yoga philosophy the feminine is associated with prakriti, a sanskrit work denoting anything manifest. Perusha is associated with masculinity and denotes the unmanifest consciousness.
