SpaceWeatherNews (S0) | Solar Storm & Hurricane This Week | Oct. 7, 2026

Labels , , , , Source: SpaceWeatherNews (S0) youtube

Description:
SpaceWeatherNews on a solar storm and a hurricane this week.

The episode links an ALMA image of spiral galaxy M83, Webb's view of stellar jets in nebula NGC 7129, a Planetary Science Institute proposal to study a possible lunar cave under NASA's PRISM program, and a University of Texas finding that the Ames meteor impact in Oklahoma happened 100 million years later than previously thought.

SpaceWeatherNews (S0) | Ozone Getting Rocked, Sun Quakes, Solar Storm | Oct. 5, 2026

Labels , , , Source: SpaceWeatherNews (S0) youtube

Description:
SpaceWeatherNews on a day-long geomagnetic storm, with solar wind above 700 km/s after yesterday's surge from large dark coronal holes. No flares or eruptive events, sunspots stay exceptionally weak, and the show expects the wind to ease today with some storm reverberations still likely.

It returns to the 2015 paper with Kongpop U-Yen and Christopher Holloman, which it says showed the sun triggering the largest earthquakes, and notes that Wilcox Solar Observatory has stopped the polar-field record.

The linked Research Square preprint by Ivan Berezin and Andrey Tlatov tests whether the KMAS/STOP magnetograph can continue that series. A second report covers crustal magnetic anomalies and electrical resistivity outside the United States and Canada, as a step toward storm-time surge maps for power grids and pipelines.

Copernicus ozone monitoring shows the southern-hemisphere hole near another daily peak, already above the daily record several times this year. The show reads the next spike as particle input from the current storm at the top of the ozone layer, while lower down it is pollution controls against volcanoes, and says the pole shift is taking a toll up high.

SpaceWeatherNews (S0) | Solar Wind Intensifying, Pole Shift Radiation Surge | Oct. 4, 2026

Labels , , , Source: SpaceWeatherNews (S0) youtube

Description:
SpaceWeatherNews on intensifying solar wind from a departing coronal hole, with geomagnetic conditions climbing after a weak CME and a possible minor storm.

The show links an AGU paper on earthquake synchrony and a Nature paper on the Laschamp excursion, which it reads as a particle-radiation surge closer to 400 percent, from a superflare or Miyake event timed with the magnetic pole shift.
