Jacques Vallée is a French computer scientist, astronomer, author and pioneering researcher of the UFO/UAP phenomenon. He studied mathematics and astrophysics before earning a PhD in computer science and artificial intelligence from Northwestern University, and his early scientific work included helping develop the first computer-based map of Mars and contributing to the development of ARPANET.
Since the 1960s, Vallée has devoted much of his career to investigating unexplained aerial phenomena, working alongside J. Allen Hynek and becoming one of the most influential and unconventional thinkers in the field.
His books, including Passport to Magonia*, *The Invisible College*, *Messengers of Deception and the seven-volume Forbidden Science journals, have challenged both conventional extraterrestrial explanations and simplistic scepticism, while exploring the physical, psychological, cultural and historical dimensions of the phenomenon.
Las Vegas aerospace tycoon Robert Bigelow and Utah real estate magnate Brandon Fugal have not spoken to each other since 2016, which is when they met to transfer ownership of Skinwalker Ranch from Bigelow to Fugal.
Bigelow owned the now famous paranormal hotspot for 20 years, during which his NIDS organization, as well as investigators working for the DIA's classified effort known as AAWSAP, tried to understand the bizarre range of UFO incidents, cryptid creatures, animal mutilations, and other inexplicable phenomena.
Fugal, who described himself as a skeptic, purchased the property in 2016 with the idea of turning it into a campground for Boy Scout gatherings, but has since changed his mind and authorized the production of the popular TV series The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch.

Legendary UFO researcher, scientist and author Jacques Vallée joins Martin Willis for a remarkable and deeply personal conversation about Forbidden Science 7: Final Report—The Journals of Jacques Vallée 2020–2025.
Vallée explains why he considers this concluding volume his “Final Report,” while making it clear that his investigation of the phenomenon is not over. He reflects on the new era of official UAP recognition, his return to work with colleagues connected to France’s space agency and his hope of becoming a resource for the next generation of scientists and researchers.
Vallée also revisits his own daylight UFO sighting near Paris around 1955, witnessed independently by his mother and a school friend, and reveals that he cannot clearly remember what happened at the conclusion of the experience.
He discusses his later attempts to explore that missing portion through professionally administered hypnosis and strongly cautions against the use of hypnotic regression by unqualified UFO investigators. The conversation also examines alleged abductions, physical evidence, consciousness, disclosure, government file releases and the BAASS project’s database of approximately 260,000 cases.
Vallée addresses the mysterious “Gilbert” account involving alleged structured communication with a higher-level entity, carefully emphasizing that the information is not firsthand and requires independent verification. He also explains why disclosure may already be changing the phenomenon, why raw government images without proper follow-up have limited scientific value and why the extraterrestrial-spacecraft hypothesis may be too narrow.
